Guasha is a therapeutic method for pain management using specific tools to press-stroke the surface of the body. According to TCM principle, it is used to relieve blood stagnation and to enhance immunity, clinically it is used for muscle fatigue and to disperse heat etc.
Is Gua Sha painful?
Treatment is not supposed to be painful, but Guasha deliberately causes light bruises, which often appears as purple or red spots known as petechiae or sha, which may cause discomfort to some people. These bruises should heal within a few days.
