What is Chinese herbal medicine?
Chinese medicine has been used for thousands of years in China to treat illness ,maintain wellness and prevent diseases. The substances that are commonly used are mostly from plant origin, although some animal parts and minerals may be used in certain cases.
How is it being prescribed in Sunway TCM Centre?
Unlike proprietary products our TCM physician will tailor a personalised herbal prescription based on the TCM diagnosis.The prescription comprises a customised formula range from 515 herbs generally, in appropriate dosage. As syndrome differentiation and condition may change from time to tme, the modification in prescription is needed weekly, biweekly or monthly. Patietns are generally required to take the herbs either once, twice or three times daily.

The medication is meant to relieve symptoms by encouraging a self-healing process, boosting the immune system and eliminating pathogenic subtances. Scientific studies have shown evidence based results of traditional Chinese medicine on cancer, gynaecology and neurological related disorders.

What are the types of herbs being prescribed?
At Sunway TCM Centre, herbs are provided either raw or in concentrated granules depending on patient's preference and current condition. Generally, we prescribe concentrated granules in most cases.
Are these herbs safe to consume? Sunway TCM Centre uses concentrated granules from established and reputable manufacturers which produce premium herbal extracts and herbs. These herbs have passed a series of Quality Assurance and Quality Controlled tests. Each batch of concentrated granules comes with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) which documents the herbs are safe to be consumed. |
How long is the whole course of treatment?
For treating of chronic conditions, Chinese medicine is usually taken daily for several months or years, whereas the course for treating acute conditions varies from days to weeks.
